1. B2C Sales

B2C or Business to Customer sales roles involve managing a territory or a channel for ensuring sales of a product/service to retail customers. The job involves managing distributors/wholesalers/stockists/retailers to ensure availability of products/services near the end customers.

2. B2B Sales

B2B or Business to Business sales roles involves selling products/services to enterprise customers. Major characteristics of such sales include customized offerings and service level contracts. These jobs involve a strong component of account management and relationship building with existing and new clients.

3. Marketing Communication

Marketing communication involves shortlisting of marketing channels (TV, Digital, Radio etc) and designing communication around products and services to reach out to potential customers. The role involves liasoning with different agencies involved in the process of design and implementation of those communications.

4. Digital Marketing

Digital channels have emerged as one of the most relevant channels for reaching out to customers in a targeted manner. Hence digital marketing involves designing and implementing strategies to be used for communicating with customers using the digital ecosystem. This includes but is not limited to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), e-mail marketing campaigns etc.

5. Market Research

A market research role involves conducting studies to better understand customer behavior, emerging trends in the market and receiving customer feedback etc either for your own organization or for a client organization that wants to understand the consumers and markets better and evolve a strategy around the same.

6. Brand Manager

Brands comprise tangible and intangible elements of products/organisations that allow them to communicate an associated value proposition to their customers and in the process differentiate themselves from their competitors. Hence brand managers are responsible for maintaining the integrity and consistency of product/customer attributes and ensure that the communication does not go against the aforementioned epithets.

Please note that there are several variations of the aforementioned roles out there. Also these roles are not exclusive to an MBA Marketing degree and can be opted for by candidates from other disciplines as well.
